Thomas Lodge (1558-1625)
- Thomas Lodge was a 16th and 17th century writer and physician. His works were instrumental in the shaping of two of William Shakespeare's plays.
- Born around 1558 with roots thought to be in London, Thomas Lodge studied law before writing socially-oriented pamphlets and long-form literature, including Scillaes Metamorphosis (1589) and Rosalynde (1590); both were major influences for William Shakespeare's Venus and Adonis (1593) and As You Like It (1603), respectively.
- Travelling internationally and working as a physician in his later years, Lodge died in 1625.
